This Classic California Cab Sauv is the Best Way to Kiss Dry January Goodbye
This week, we’re thinking about our friends in North America as they’re celebrating two very different traditions: on Friday 2nd of February, there’s Groundhog Day, a date in which the namesake animal helps predict either the arrival of spring or six more weeks of winter; then on Sunday 4th, there’s the Super Bowl Final, a battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots.
Whether you prefer to watch the big game or get your Netflix on to watch Bill Murray’s classic Groundhog Day (or simply stream the actual groundhog watching celebration online, which apparently, it’s a thing), for this week’s wine of the week, we are thinking US.
Murphy Goode Cabernet Sauvignon is a good looking Californian, that adds a dash of Cabernet Franc to the Cab Sauv, resulting in a wine of more depth and structure, at a very reasonable price.
Expect aromas of ripe blackberries, black currant preserve and black cherries combined with toasted cocoa nibs and espresso, a hint of licorice rests in the background.
Medium body and strong but not overpowering tannins, this is a big red that doesn’t go over the top but delivers a harmony and ends on a high note.
