Learn the Art of Nepalese Cooking with Chef Lina Gautam of Monty’s

Even if you are an avid cook, it is unlikely you are well versed in the flavours of Nepal. Lina Gautam, chef and co-owner of the ever popular Monty’s of Kathmandu in Temple Bar can certainly help with this, as her monthly cookery classes aim to immerse students in the heady flavours of the region, which is most famous for being home to Mount Everest.

You may recognise Lina from her appearances on the RTE Today Show with Maura and Daithí as well as regular cooking slots on TV3’s Six O’Clock Show, and classes allow you to cook along with her to cook a full traditional Nepali meal.

Everything from grinding your own spices to exploring the flavour combinations prevalent in authentic Nepalese dishes will be explored, before sitting down to enjoy a three course dinner prepared by the chefs in Monty’s and a glass of wine.

Classes are relaxed and informal, so Lina can guide you through each step and answer all of your questions as you cook along. Each class lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours, followed by a convivial meal together to chat through what you have learned.

Tickets to this unique cooking experience cost €65 per person and take place on the last Monday of each month, so the next class will be held on March 26th. For more information visit www.montys.ie.
