Pop down the steps of Cliff Townhouse at No.22 Stephen’s Green and discover Urchin, the newest dining experience in the hear of Dublin city.
Urchin is a fresh, original venue that imbues a laid-back seaside hangout. The subtle beach-chic décor, blissed out soundtrack, day to day menu and full bar offering will combine seamlessly to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Cliff House Hotel Michelin-star Executive Chef Martijn Kajuiter and Cliff Townhouse Head Chef Sean Smith have joined together to create the CLIFF take on the small plate concept. While staple menu favourites will hold steady, the fun of dining at Urchin will be the adventurous daily changing menu. The kitchen will continue serving into the night, remaining open alongside the bar, making Urchin a great choice for a delicious late-night supper.
At Urchin, diners and chefs are encouraged to mingle to create an interactive dining experience. Food is ordered through a token system, each one valued at €6. All dishes are priced at €6 and €12. Grab tokens at the bar and step over to the kitchen where many dishes are on display and chefs will talk diners through selections, serving up fresh plates to take back to their table.
Signature dishes cooked to order will include Sea Urchin, sourced from the Beara Peninsula, poached and served as an edible cocktail, comprising aerated Whiskey, Tomato and smoked Paprika; Irish Wagyu, from master butcher Pat Whelan, with a Beef Tea Fondue; Fresh Irish Skate and an Oriental Slaw served with a Ponzu Jam on Banana Leaf.
Also, immediately available from the open kitchen hatch, will be smaller dishes such as fresh-made Choux Buns dipped in Caramel, Minute Marinated Scallops, Pork with Yoghurt and Mint, and Beech Mushrooms in a Lettuce cup.
Drinks will be a collaboration between CLIFF kitchen and bar. The combination of culinary and mixology will fuse food and drink, flavours and essences, to create an innovative drinks list, with equal focus on alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Consistent with its provocative approach, the CLIFF team and Garry Cohn, Design Consultant to CLIFF, have transformed this lower level into a light filled space, with subtle marine references in the detailing of walls, furnishings and fabrics. Strong graphic patterns add great vibrancy. The kitchen area has been designed as an open space and the dynamics of food preparation and cooking are on full view.
Urchin is the latest venue by CLIFF, which owns and operates Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, Waterford, urban hotel and award winning seafood restaurant Cliff Townhouse in Dublin and the newly launched Cliff at Lyons country estate hotel and Orangery restaurant in Kildare.
Urchin is now open from 12 noon until late night, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and from 4pm until late Monday through Wednesday. No reservations needed. See www.clifftownhouse.ie for more information or call 01 6383939
