There’s nothing like Grafton Street at Christmas time, whether you’re from Dublin or not, it holds a fond place in most of our hearts for its festive feel, twinkling lights and almost magical atmosphere come late November. Christmas in town just got a whole lot better with the news that the new look Bewley’s Café will reopen next month, just in time for yuletide cheer.
The Grafton Street stalwart originally opened in 1927, but closed its doors in February 2015 to undergo a €12 million makeover. The new and improved café will seat up to 500 people and will include a delicious expanded food offering, with an on-site chocolate factory and bakery.
The refurbishment will see the café transformed into a destination for tourists and locals alike and will be the ideal spot to refuel during Christmas shopping trips, with open fireplaces and of course, delectable hot chocolate to set the mood.
We can’t wait to cosy up with freshly baked goodies and people watch out the Harry Clarke stained glass windows which have been restored to their former glory, and will be first in line when it reopens in early November.
