If dinner and a movie sounds like date night heaven, or just any night heaven, then the latest addition to bustling Rathmines will have you queuing up at the door. The ever so glamorous Stella Theatre is already home to a stylish cocktail club serving tempting bites, but next week sees the opening of The Stella Diner right next door, making it a one stop shop for your day or night out.
The Stella Diner will be housed in the old Bank of Ireland building at 211 Rathmines Road and has been given a chic refit. Inviting vintage red leather booths and a centrepiece bar counter spanning the length of the room ensure the space echoes the eye-catching design of the neighbouring theatre, both the work of O’Donnell O’Neill design.
On the food front, the diner will offer “comfort food at its finest” with an all-day menu consisting of American classics such as Cheeseburgers, Hot Dogs and Meatloaf and brunch favourites Buttermilk Pancake Stacks, Corned Beef Hash and Brioche French Toast.
American pie dominates the dessert offering, with Key Lime, Mississippi Mud and Apple versions lining their glass dessert cabinet, as well as milkshakes, sundaes and buckets of nostalgia. The menu has been thoughtfully designed by Press Up Group Executive Chef Ryan Bell, Stella Theatre Executive Chef Darren Matthews and Head Chef Gabor Molnar, formerly of Union Café.
To accompany your retro feast, cinema inspired cocktails from the people behind the shaken and stirred conceptions in the theatre include There’s Something About Bloody Mary’, ‘Don Julio’s Day Off’, ‘Midnight Espresso’ and ‘O Bacon, Where Art Thou?’.
The Stella Diner won’t be taking reservations, but it is sure to be a popular opening when it welcomes the first diners in on Monday, June 25th. For more information visit www.stelladiner.ie.
