This Californian Red will Pair Beautifully with Thanksgiving Dinner
Just as Americans join the celebration and embrace Paddy’s Day with great fanfare during the month of March, November allows us to return the love. With a holiday as delicious and joyful as Thanksgiving, we are more than happy to partake!
Celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States (second Monday of October in Canada), the holiday encourages people to celebrate everything they are thankful for in their lives while enjoying a parade of delicious food along friends and family.
Nielson Pinot Noir 2013 is a wine to be thankful for. This Californian red comes from the prestigious cool climate region of Santa Barbara County, where the variety can achieve finesse and concentration.
It might be on the pale side, but it’s aromas and flavours are very well defined. Ripe cherries and violets are the first to greet you, while shortly after, a smokey and toasted character adds a layer of complexity. A good pinch of sweet spices complements this generous red.
Tannins are moderate, light yet intense for a Pinot Noir, and they run through the palate like silk.
It will go really well with duck, rich turkey dishes and of course, it will be a delightful addition to a Thanksgiving dinner table.
