Irish chef Oliver Dunne has today taken over ownership of Donnybrook institution, O’Connells Restaurant.
A popular neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of south Dublin, the restaurant’s previous owners, Tom and Annette O’Connell, will exit the business.
The rest of the team will remain, as will the restaurant’s name, which will continue to operate as is. All phone numbers will stay the same and all valid gift vouchers will be honoured.
Speaking about the news, Tom and Annettee commented: “It has been a wonderful and long journey, lasting 19 years. We would like to send our greatest thanks to our customers with whom we have shared so many family occasions, our loyal and wonderful staff, our dedicated suppliers and food producers.”
They added: “This was not an easy decision to make, we are fortunate and grateful for the support of all over our restaurant’s lifetime. We are pleased for our staff that they will now become part of Oliver Dunne’s young, energetic and creative team whose heritage in fine food needs no introduction. We wish Oliver every success in Donnybrook.”
This will be the fourth restaurant owned and operated by Oliver Dunne Restaurants, which already includes Beef & Lobster, Bon Appetit Restaurant and Cleaver East By Oliver Dunne.
