Virginia-based brewery The Veil Brewing Company recently launched an Oreo Beer named Hornswoggler, a chocolate milk stout aged with Oreo cookies, which even has real icing chunks.
The beer, with a powerful 7% ABV, is fermented in Oreos and was almost instantly sold out after the initial batch of 64 cases was released (it has been reported that there is an on-draft version still making the rounds).
This creative brew went viral and has already been featured on sites such as Thrillist, Mashable and PopSugar. Matt Tarpey, co-founder and head brewer at The Veil said: “We released a chocolate milk stout but with a hundred pounds of Oreos. And it just took off.”
The Veil Brewing Company is truly one to watch: it was rated #3 Best New Brewer by prestigious beer site ratebeer.com. They enthusiastically introduced Hornswoggler, on their Instagram on January 23rd and the post currently boasts 993 likes and 149 comments. “This Tuesday January 24th will be the debut of Hornswoggler with Oreos! 😳 That’s right. You heard right. We took our 7% robust chocolate milk stout Hornswoggler and conditioned it on hundreds of pounds of Oreo cookies. If you like Oreo cookies, this is a must try”, it reads.
Since there might be residual sugar from the cookies, they highly recommend to keep the cans as cold as possible and to drink the beer as fresh as possible to get the most intense Oreo character.
