Paying a visit to new Legit Coffee in Phibsbrough – Legit Coffee Cafe Review

The coffee scene of Dublin is not slowing down, with new spots sprouting like flowers across town. What makes me super happy is to see the established names such as Legit Coffee open a new location. This Meath Street coffee house opened the door of its new cafe in Phibsbrough, Dublin 7.

Located opposite to the public library, Legit Coffee Phibsbrough charms with a slightly different character to its older sibling. More industrial design, rooted in the mix of raw grey and white in furniture and decorations. An occasional splash of green pops here and there adding a bit of colour. The place is more spacious, which allows a mix of small tables, bar top seating and a communal area. Though you can see some commonalities, Legit Coffee Phibsborough offers a bit more urban modern feel.

Before indulging my stomach, I had a quick look around the barista station. At that time Legit Coffee served Upside Coffee, from a roastery based in Dublin. I went for a flat white, my drink of choice. Thanks to its Brazilian origin, my coffee was nicely chocolatey with delicate nutty hints. It was an excellent roast for any white coffee, with the sweetness of milk accentuating the goodness of Brazilian coffee. My flat white was beautifully poured by barista Tin, who treated me with stunning latte art. Since my last visit, Legit Coffee has been serving Fully Circle Roastery coffee.

While sipping the coffee, I checked out their brunch menu. My eyes quickly landed on a pulled pork benedict on toasted brioche (€10). The pulled pork was juicy and tender. Sweet caramelised apples went well with a salty Hollandaise sauce and poached eggs. Everything laid on a bed of greens on an Arun Bakery Brioche. It was a nice, satisfying meal, that left enough space for any potential dessert.

Legit Coffee boasts a wide range of desserts and pastries, prepared in-house. If you are gluten intolerant, there is also a selection of treats to hit that sweet tooth. I got to try a pineapple upside down and chocolate cake. The first cake was light, not too sweet and moist, which contrasted nicely with pineapple bites. I enjoyed it. The chocolate one was quite intense in flavour due to caramel and condensed milk. Chocolate toned the sweetness down, which made it a good option. However, for some, it could be a bit too generous as an after-meal dessert.

Good quality, nice flavours and great ambience. Legit Coffee keeps up with its reputation for sure. I would say their new Phibsborough cafe is a good addition to the food options in Dublin 7.
