Penfolds has been named the World’s Most Admired Wine Brand in an annual poll conducted by Drinks International. The accolade was awarded to Penfolds after nearly 200 industry experts took part in the poll comparing wines from all over the world.
Sommeliers, writers, Masters of Wine and critics looked at different regions, styles and qualities and voted the best products in several categories: consistent or improving quality, reflects its region or country of origin, responds to the needs and tastes of its target audience, is well marketed and packaged & has a strong appeal to a wide demographic.
Penfolds Chief Winemaker Peter Gago exclaimed, “All at Penfolds are so chuffed with this global recognition – from those working in our vineyards and wineries, on our bottling lines, back-of-house in logistics, procurement and marketing, to our talented sales teams around the world who are at the coal-face selling our whites, reds and fortifieds. After 172 years in the wine business we’re still hungry, still excited and still eager to make better wine and champion new followers.”
This award comes after a very successful year for Penfolds where they won several awards including their 25th Winery of the Year award in a row from Wine & Spirits magazine – a world first; the world’s best wine from the 1970’s by FINE magazine for their 1971 Grange and International White Winemaker of the Year by the International Wine Challenge.
