This Country is The Leading Culinary Destination in The World For The Sixth Year Running

Peru has been named the Leading Culinary Destination of 2017 by the World Travel Awards, an award they have now won six years in a row.

The South American country is known for its fresh take on seafood, as well as its seasonally conscious produce. Despite competition from destinations like Argentina, Italy, China, France, India, and Japan, Peru’s reign continues.

Peru really cleaned up at the World Travel Awards, which were held in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, as the famed Machu Picchu was awarded Best Tourist Attraction.

Peru also claimed the awards for South America’s Leading Green Destination and South America’s Leading Tourist Board.

Commenting on their win, Isabella Falco, Country Image Director of PROMPERU, said: “These recognitions are the result of the work we are doing to promote our tourism resources and our gastronomy.

“These awards help to highlight Peru in the eyes of the world and we will continue to work to maintain Peru in first place, which contributes to improving the quality of life of all those Peruvians whose welfare depends on the growth of international tourism.”
