Poured Paintings and Poured Wines – At JN Wine Crossgar Showcasing Local Artist Kathryn Callaghan
JN Wine is hosting a relaxed evening of art, music, wine and food on Thursday 25 February at JN Wine in Crossgar, where poured paintings are paired with poured wines, to their mutual advantage and to exhibition-goers’ pleasure!
A showcase of local artist Kathryn Callaghan’s newest work, the exhibition itself features Kathryn’s distinctive poured paintings and includes the new artwork she has created for the label of JN Wine’s own Sparkling range.
Kathryn’s artwork is graphic and freestyle, using gel and ink and her own signature pouring technique to create original pieces with a textured, glossy finish. Featuring a brand new collection of work based primarily on specific wines and Irish wildlife. Wines featured on the walls at JN Wine will also be poured into glasses on the night, starting with a glass of JN Sparkling and following on with a glass of each of the wines featured in Kathryn’s new works. There will becanapés available too, matched to each wine, and JN staff will be on hand to talk guests through the wines and food pairings.
This collection of wine-inspired artworks aims to capture the wines’ beautiful colours, and their striking labels and bottle shapes, along with some of the fruits and flavours to be found in wines. The colours, splashes and lines of these bold artworks aim to convey the energy and complexity of each subject.
Open to the public, and costing £10 per ticket, this exclusive exhibition opening is the perfect, relaxed and friendly opportunity to broaden your wine knowledge and familiarise yourself with the impressive JN Wine range while immersing yourself in an evening of impressive art too.
All profits from ticket sales and 10% commission from all paintings sold throughout the exhibition will be donated to Youth Action. James Nicholson is Vice Chair of Youth Action Northern Ireland which has a 70-year history of making a significant difference to the lives of young people aged 10-25.
