The Surprising Rioja Wine and Tapas Trail is set to be one of the highlights of the highly anticipated Spanish Wine Week, running between April 24th and 30th. On the evening of Wednesday 25th of April, attendees will be able to experience Rioja’s surprising side as we tour three unique venues to enjoy wines carefully paired with delectable tapas.
Join us as we stop for a taste of six carefully selected Rioja wines that showcase the many different styles coming from this prestigious region. You’ll find wonderful rich reds that we know and love, as well as white and rosé Riojas and examples of modern and innovative approaches from the region.
This is more than just a wine tasting, as during the Surprising Rioja Wine and Tapas Trail you’ll enjoy a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, discover new venues and taste dishes that will enhance your enjoyment and make it a more immersive experience. In each venue, we’ll enjoy two Rioja wines accompanied with two tapas.
The trail will take place on Thursday 26th of April from 6:00 pm and guests will get to enjoy the best food and wine as the evening progresses. All stops in the tours are within a short stroll to each other and while we reach our destination, you will be guided by the experts of award-winning Fab Food Trails. Below, the route of the trail:
Urchin is Dublin’s hottest new beach-inspired cocktail bar located on Stephen’s Green directly below Cliff Townhouse. A breath of fresh air with a relaxed seaside vibe and bright friendly atmosphere Urchin is about creative and fun drinks with innovative small bites making it an ideal spot to catch-up with friends or colleagues for pre-dinner drinks and snacks.
In this stop, we’ll have a taste of a very special and award-winning white Rioja followed by a refreshing and youthful red. Both accompanied by ocean inspired tapas.
Ely has always focused on the importance of provenance and the community of our artisan producers and suppliers, who enhance the quality of our food experience. There’s never been a better time to experience ely. Today ely lists over 500 wines by bottle and 80 wines by the glass.
This will be the ideal venue to share a rosé, or shall we say, rosado, with a Spanish accent, as well as a show-stopping Reserva. Modern tapas with the finest ingredients with accompany your sipping.
Piglet is a small, cosy wine bar in the Christchurch end of Temple Bar – a place to come for a glass of wine, then stay for a bottle and have some food. The menu is not your classic starter-main-dessert selection, but an often changing list of dishes that can be mixed, matched and shared in order to suit any kind of appetite.
We’ll finish our trail at this wine lovers’ must-visit spot with a taste of a vibrant and modern Crianza and to say goodbye on a high note, we’ll share a very special Gran Reserva. To match, delicious tapas of Mediterranean inspiration.
