One of the most exciting and fun activities planned for this year’s Spanish Wine Week, has to be the White and Sparkling Wine and Tapas Trail, which will take place on the evening of the Wednesday 25th of April. Guests will have the opportunity to taste vibrant and surprising wines from different Spanish regions, accompanied by mouth-watering tapas carefully chosen to enhance and complement their flavours.

Join us as we stop for a taste of six selected wines combining different styles of whites, from fresh and fruity to aged and complex, as well as some of Spain’s best bubbles.

This is more than just a wine tasting, as during the White and Sparkling Wine and Tapas Trail you’ll enjoy a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, discover new venues and taste a parade of exciting flavourful tapas to add to your enjoyment and make it a more immersive experience. In each venue, we’ll enjoy two wines accompanied with two tapas.

The trail will take place on Wednesday 25th of April and will begin at 6:00 pm and guests will get to enjoy the best food and wine. All stops in the tours are within a short stroll to each other and while we reach our destination, you will be guided by the experts of award-winning Fab Food Trails. Below, the route of the trail:

SABA

SABA means ‘happy meeting place’, so their very first aim is to provide happy experiences and memories for all customers. The food they serve is healthy and nutritious — always. They aim for authenticity, that means valuing the knowledge and skills of their Thai and Vietnamese staff. Where possible they work with genuine, Asian-sourced ingredients to create great dishes just like back home.

We’ll start our evening with a very unique sparkling Albariño wine from Rias Baixas and a taste of a fresh and summery white from Ribeiro, this will be matched by two tapas or Asian inspiration.

PIGLET

Piglet is a small, cosy wine bar in the Christchurch end of Temple Bar – a place to come for a glass of wine, then stay for a bottle and have some food. The menu is not your classic starter-main-dessert selection, but an often changing list of dishes that can be mixed, matched and shared in order to suit any kind of appetite!

In this wine lovers’ must-visit spot, we’ll share a wonderful organic Cava from a small producer as well as an innovative blend coming from the region of Valencia. Mediterranean flavour in the shape of two mouth-watering tapas will complement your sipping.

POKE

At Klaw ™ they are very passionate about what they do. They try to do things the right way not just because it’s trendy and cool. The idea is simple: super fresh seafood in a relaxed atmosphere where people can just get their fish on. They hope that their passion and pride come across in the service and food.

In this hip spot, we’ll conclude with a taste of Godello, a variety that has been one of wine’s biggest comebacks in recent years, and a multi award-winning white from Rueda, one of the Spanish white wine regions par excellence.
