About Mark Moriarty

Now 23, Mark Moriarty began working in the kitchen at 16, at The Chart House Restaurant in Dingle, Co. Kerry, during the summer holidays. After starting a BA in Culinary Arts in DIT Cathal Brugha Street he also worked in Thorntons for 2 years from 2010 to 2012. From here, Mark moved to The GreenHouse on Dawson Street under Mickael Viljanen. In 2013, he was crowned Euro Toques Irish Young Chef of the Year. In September 2014, after leaving the GreenHouse, Mark set up the pop-up concept “The Culinary Counter” with fellow chef Ciaran Sweeney. They aim to offer stripped back, clever fine dining in a laid back and youthful setting. The goal is to interact with the customers while preparing an 8 course tasting menu. Events happen monthly, are ticket only, and can be booked online.
