The four star Ferrycarrig Hotel in scenic Co. Wexford is a stunning destination for a stay-cation and is home to the award winning Reeds Restaurant. Named Best Hotel Restaurant in Wexford 2016 and 2017, here diners enjoy sweeping views across the River Slaney and expertly crafted dishes. To add to this tempting dining experience, their offering has just expanded to include wine taps.
Rom Daniel, the Maitre D at Reeds, explains: “Our main goal was to ensure we had a wide selection of wines that are exclusive to the hotel and restaurant business. We want to make sure that the guests really enjoy their wine experience at Reeds and that we have interesting wines to offer.”
“We wanted to source top class quality wines so we installed wine taps. The wine comes in kegs so we have reduced our glass waste. The main attraction to using the wine kegs was that the wines are a very high standard. The selected wines went through a thorough test phase and all were found to be of superb quality, surpassing many top bottled brands. The fact that the wine is stored in the keg we can make sure that the temperature is always perfect,” he says.
Getting into the specifics of the new and improved wine offering, Rom says “we like to give a good variety of grapes on the wine menu at Reeds and we have a range of modern and classical wines on tap. We have a gorgeous Sauvignon Blanc from the South of France, our Chardonnay and Rosé are also from France and we have a light and refreshing Pinot Grigio from Italy. Our Prosecco is deliciously fresh, our crowd pleasing Merlot is Italian, the Malbec is from the Bousquet family and our final red wine is a personal favourite of mine, a Cotes du Rhone.”
Complimenting an extensive menu of contemporary dishes crafted using the finest local and seasonal Irish produce, this award-winning restaurant has upped its game even further with the addition of wine taps.
