The Just Ask campaign is now in its eight year and has been wholeheartedly embraced by the restaurant trade. It aims to encourage diners to ask where food on their plate comes from and encourages chefs to profile their local suppliers on menus.
The Just Ask Restaurant of the Month winners are selected by Bord Bia as examples eateries across Ireland that exhibit best practice in showing transparency in the sourcing of the food on their menus.
Some of their suppliers include, Gareth Kavanagh of Kavanagh Meats in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford supply fresh meat. Their fish is sourced from Colin O’Shea of Seatrade in Dunmore East, Co. Waterford. Irish cheese suppliers include Elizabeth Bradley in Carlow and Gubbeen in Schull, Co. Cork.
Owner and Chef, Henry Stone said, “In a world where everything is available all year round, we can forget the sheer delight of tasting what nature has to offer each season.
