Shortcross Gin Scores Hat Trick at the Global Gin Masters 2016

As the summer gin season gets under way, Irish distillery, Rademon Estate is celebrating having won a trio of awards for Shortcross Gin at The Gin Masters 2016. The acclaimed Distillery based in Co. Down swept the board at the prestigious competition, which attracts entries from leading spirits brands from across the world.

Shortcross Gin beat stiff competition to clinch the highly coveted ‘Master’ accolade in the Ultra Premium category, whilst the Shortcross Cask Aged Gin and Shortcross Gin Wild Clover Edition each picked up Silver Awards in the Cask and Contemporary categories, respectively.

Founded in 2012 by husband and wife team Fiona and David Boyd-Armstrong, Rademon Estate Distillery is located at the couple’s historic family estate just outside Downpatrick, Co. Down. The first batch of their lovingly created artisan craft gin, Shortcross was released in 2014 to exceptional local acclaim and has quickly grown to become a firm favourite amongst Irish gin lovers and abroad.

Stocked in leading Irish hotels, restaurants and bars including The Westbury, Sophie’s, House, The Bailey, JT Pimms, Drury Buildings, Ashford Castle, The g hotel, The Merchant Hotel, Goldbergs Cork, Brick Lane Cork, Bridge House Hotel Tullamore, Shortcross has quickly gained the support of high profile mixologists and chefs due to its distinctive, unique taste.

Commenting on the news, co-founder and head distiller, David Boyd-Armstrong said: “We are so proud of the success of our three Shortcross Gin expressions at The Gin Masters. This is a highly competitive and prestigious competition of an international level so we are thrilled to keep Ireland’s distilling heritage on the map. We are driven by a passion to create the finest premium spirits in Ireland and these awards are a testament to the energy, love and commitment we put into crafting our Shortcross Gin.”

Excellence and innovation in distillation is at the heart of the Rademon Estate ethos. Earlier this year, the Distillery released limited edition expressions; Cask Aged Shortcross Gin and Shortcross Gin Wild Clover Edition, both quickly selling out due to phenomenal demand. Further batches of the two new expressions will be released this summer.

Last year, the Distillery announced that it had laid down the first casks of a new Irish Malt Whiskey, the first bottles of which are expected to be released in summer 2018. There are also plans to open a unique visitor centre at Rademon Estate later in 2016.

Co-founder, Fiona Boyd-Armstrong added: “We are incredibly passionate about Shortcross Gin and we are delighted that our products continue to strike a chord with gin lovers locally, nationally and internationally. The overwhelming response to the release of our limited edition Cask Aged and Wild Clover editions earlier this year was fantastic – it’s wonderful to see our vision coming to life.

“We have big plans for Rademon Estate in the months and years ahead and look forward to bringing forward new innovations, releasing more new and exciting premium spirits, whilst building on the success of Shortcross Gin.”
