There has never been a more excited café scene in the capital, and increasingly we are seeing independently owned spots broadening their offering to include impressive offerings beyond the flat white. SLICE in Stoneybatter has made a name for itself for a selection of seriously tempting cakes and bakes (and doughnuts to die for, FYI) but their breakfast and lunch menu is also packed with more than your run of the mill soup and sandwich combo.
With ingredients-driven dishes making up a creative menu, SLICE prides itself on sourcing fantastic produce from Jenny McNally and various local artisans and builds its offering based on this. For those of us who can’t pop to Stoneybatter on our lunch break, the exciting news is SLICE will be hosting festive Supper Club style evenings next month.
From Thursday December 7th to Saturday 9th, SLICE by night will open for dinner with two sittings, 6.30pm and 9pm. Diners will enjoy Spiced Mulled Wine on arrival before tucking in to an Irish Tapas style starter featuring tempting nibbles from local artisans.
There will be a selection of mains on the evening, including a delicious sounding Lamb Burger with beetroot relish, harissa creme fraiche and house pickles, served on a Le Levain bap with organic roast baby potatoes. The evening will of course finish on a sweet note with a selection of the freshly baked desserts SLICE is famous for, as the little sister of the fantastic Cake Café.
This special evening menu costs €32 per person and you can book your place by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Be quick as tickets are expecting to sell out quickly for this popular neighbourhood gem.
