Spirit of Gin at The Loop
Gin is such a versatile spirit that it allows for countless takes and offers a range of flavours and inspirations as wide as the distiller’s imagination. Juniper leads the parade, but botanicals from the ubiquitous to the obscure march along ensuring that there’s a gin for every palate out there. The Loop at both Dublin and Cork Airports has been a keen supporter of Irish gin and after the consistent success and growth the spirit has seen in recent years, they’ve decided to take things to the next level for 2017.
The Spirit of Gin is a gin festival which takes place at The Loop this summer. It’s a celebration of ‘all things gin’ and of the massive success which The Loop has experienced with gin. Customers can look forward to tastings of the gins they know and love as well as new favourites to discover as they jet off on their trip this summer from Dublin airport and Cork Airport.
A range of in-store promotions will take place throughout August and September in addition to competitions on social media.
Michelle Corbett, Head of Global Consumer Marketing at The Loop says: “We invested heavily in our gin offering throughout 2016 and into 2017 and it is now The Loop’s fastest growing category, second only to Irish whiskey. In 2016, sales of gin increased by a staggering 70%, with Irish produced gin growing by nearly 200%.”
With over 50 different gins, The Loop combines the best Irish brands as well as some selected international bottles. They feature several exclusive items such as Listoke Barnstorm or a special edition of Glendalough which was made with botanicals foraged and distilled by The Loop’s staff, and the highly coveted Collagin, which made headlines for its innovative addition of collagen, which is available in travel retailers only.
Eleven of The Loop’s most talented and friendly retail staff have been selected for personalised training on distilling processes, recipes and mixes at our main gin distilleries. The Gin Ambassadors are in-store to help customers chose the perfect gin, or advise on unusual mixes, blends and cocktails.
This initiative is complemented by an expansion of The Loop’s gin range by 40% compared to 2016. ARI, the company specialised in Airport retail that runs The Loop, is an advocate for Irish gin which has supported new Irish brands and helped bring them to market.
For example, both Listoke 1777 and Gunpowder Gin were launched exclusively with ARI at The Loop.
Expect an abundance of tastings during the months of August and September, as well as exclusive and exciting launches to grace the shelves of The Loop over the next few months.
To make the airport shopping experience as seamless as possible, The Loop offers free “Click and Collect” and “Shop and Collect” services:
Shop and Collect allows customers to purchase items at Dublin Airport with the added benefit of storing these purchases on site until the customer returns to Ireland.
A text is also sent to each passenger using this service to remind them to pick up their goods when they arrive back to Dublin Airport.
Click and Collect service allows you to browse and purchase up to 12 hours in advance of your flight via theloop.ie.
Your purchases can then be picked up on departure or when you arrive back to the airport.
