Sugar-free Brownie Chocolate Cake Recipe by The Goodfood Goddess

I always think that nothing brings people together better than a delicious meal. Of course everyone’s favorite part of any meal is always dessert. This fudgey chocolate brownie cake is the ultimate crowd pleaser and I have yet to meet someone who will say no to a slice of this moist, gooey and ultra decadent chocolate brownie cake. It is super simple and quick to make leaving you with lots of time to spend with guests. As it is gluten, dairy, egg and refined sugar free as well as vegan it makes an ideal dessert that caters to almost everyone’s dietary needs. I’m not going to say anything more but rather let you drool over the photos.

Cacao is a superfood not solely for its mood lifting powers but also for its nutritional profile. Cacao is rich in the antioxidant flavonoid which is also found in grapes. These flavonoids may prevent anything from Alzheimer’s Disease to cancer though the research is not conclusive yet. In addition cacao has been shown to reduce blood pressure as well as possibly increase longevity. As wonderful as cacao is it does contain caffeine so unless you want to experience sleeplessness and anxiety it is probably best to not eat the whole batch!

Serves 6

Ingredients:

– 1 + ⅓ cup gluten free oat flour
– ½ cup cacao powder
– ½ cup ground almonds
– 1 tsp baking powder
– 1 cup maple syrup
– ½ cup of oil (I used rapeseed)
– ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
– 1 tsp vanilla

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 180C/ 350F.
2. Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
3. Line a suitable cake tin. (I used a 10 inch circular cake tin).
4. Pour cake mixture into your prepared cake tin and place in the oven.
5. Bake for 40-50 minutes.
6. Remove from the oven allow to cool.
7. Serve with fresh berries and coconut yogurt. Enjoy!

RECIPE BY THE GOODFOOD GODDESS

Aoife Howard, The Good Food Godess, Blogger, Co Limerick Hello! My name is Aoife and I am a 20 year old medical student from Ireland. I have always had an immense interest in food however it was only when I developed  acne that I began to understand its healing power. After trying numerous different treatment options without success and left only with the option of stronger drugs I  finally decided to overhaul my diet in a last ditch effort to improve my skin. Out went all processed foods devoid of nutrition as well as refined sugar and in their place  came nutrient rich natural wholefoods. After pursuing a more plant based diet for just three months my acne had cleared up. Not only did my skin improve but my  energy levels were elevated and my general sense of well-being greatly improved. My diet is not perfect nor completely plant based (I have a love affair with salmon!)  but I have found what works for me. All the recipes are free from many common allergies such as dairy, gluten and wheat as well as refined sugar because I wanted  recipes that everyone could use. Whether you are a plant based eater, flexitarian or just want to eat more healthily I hope that in this blog you will find recipes that  inspire and promote a healthy lifestyle. www.thegoodfoodgoddess.com
