Taste by Dylan McGrath, the cutting edge top floor restaurant sitting above Rustic Stone, has just marked it’s second birthday in style, inviting a select few to an intimate dinner last night. Establishing itself as one of the most exciting restaurants in the city over the last two years, Taste offers a flavour exploration experience with entirely unique dishes created by Masterchef McGrath.
Opening it’s doors in June 2015, this stylish hotspot offers Japanese inspired dishes which pack a serious punch and guests on the night were treated to a banquet of highlights from Taste’s tempting menu after a drinks reception in Bar Rustic.
Sharing plates of Brick Temaki, a blue fin tuna cone with guacamole, umami-rich Miso Broth and Hot Edamame Beans kicked off proceedings and whetted guests appetites for the feast ahead.
Starters included sticky and sweet Pork Belly cooked on a Robata grill and topped with a quail’s egg, Blow Torched Sea Scallops and African Prawn Crispy Tempura, displaying the diverse global cuisines which influence the exciting menu at Taste by Dylan McGrath.
Salmon was steamed by guests at the table in their own steaming pots of flavouful soy and ginger broth before digging in to perfectly pink Fermanagh Blackened Sirloin with miso and sesame powder. Terayaki chicken skewers with Peruvian spices and a selection of stunning Nigiri and Sashami rounded out the savoury part of the feast.
Guests saved room for dessert and indulged in luscious Chocolate and Japanese Pepper Mousse, Smoked Japanese Cheesecake and a vibrant Green Tea Brulee which fused white chocolate and matcha powder beautifully.
Naturally, phones were at the ready to capture the delicious parade of dishes and the evening’s hashtag #LoveTaste trended on the night on Twitter. Guests shared their best food shots of the evening, as featured above.
