Taste of Cavan Returns this 11th and 12th of August

Yesterday 8th of June, this year’s edition of Taste of Cavan was launched at an event that took place at The Olde Post Inn, Cloverhill. The cherished food festival is considered one of the main platforms for promotion of local producers.

Among the special guests to this event were Dragons’ Den star Gavin, actor and Celebrity Masterchef star Simon Delaney and chefs Gearóid Lynch (The Olde Post Inn), Neven Maguire (MacNean House), Eddie Attwell (St Kyran’s Country House), Shane Smith (Airfield Estate), and Adrian Martin (RTÉ’s ‘Chef Adrian Eats Ireland’).

Gavin, who recently invested n Cavan artisan jam and chutney producer Moran’s MegaJam, said “people around the country look to you as people who started an initiative that has gone on from success to success”.

Taste of Cavan 2017 will take place in Cavan Equestrian Centre, Cavan Town on Friday, 11th and Saturday 12th of August. The line up for this year also includes Richard Corrigan, The Happy Pear, Catherine Fulvio, Brian McDermott, Norbert Neylon, Noel McMeel and Máire Dufficy.

Never Maguire’s Home Chef of Cavan competition will return to this year’s festival, and the skillful amateur chef that surprises the judges with his use of local produce wwill be in with a chance of winning a luxury food break.

The event will feature over 130 food and drink stands, as well as a Fun Zone with plenty of family friendly entertainment.

Thursday’s event also saw the launch of the County Cavan Food Strategy, a document which will identify and develop new and innovative ways of growing the Cavan food sector.
