Over the past six years the culinary prowess of Cavan has been revealed due to the success of the annual Taste of Cavan festival.
The sixth edition of Taste of Cavan takes place this weekend, Friday 11th and Saturday August 12th, at the Cavan Equestrian Centre.
Taking to the stage in the Ulster Bank Chef’s Kitchen will be the nation’s favourite chef Neven Maguire, two-time Michelin Star winner Richard Corrigan, the bubbly The Happy Pear boys, and well-loved TV chef and author Catherine Fulvio.
If watching Neven in action isn’t enough then you can pre-register online for a ‘Cook with Neven’ masterclass, in which groups of two will get to cook alongside the Cavan man.
Other culinary stars include gluten-free guru and Fáilte Ireland Food Champion, Gearóid Lynch of The Olde Post Inn; The Great British Menu star Eddie Attwell of St Kyran’s Country House; RTÉ’s Chef Adrian Martin, whose book Fakeaway was published recently; ‘No Salt Chef’ Brian McDermott; and pastry chef extraordinare Shane Smith of Airfield Estate.
Celebrity Masterchef contestant, actor and presenter Simon Delaney will also be taking to the cookery demo stage before the launch of his first cook book in October of this year.
The festival revellers won’t go hungry with a flourishing food market popping up at the event that boasts 130 stalls showcasing local food and drink products from Cavan and the surrounding region.
Easily the biggest and best food festival in the north-west, Taste of Cavan has cemented its position as a fixture in the Irish food calendar, and as a nationally-significant regional food festival, by staying true to its ethos of promoting only the very finest local and regional produce.
