Teeling Spirit of Dublin Flowing Again in The Liberties After Four Decades

Last Tuesday in The Liberties, the first whiskey spirit to be produced in Dublin in almost four decades was distilled from the copper pot stills at the Teeling Whiskey Distillery. This will now be matured for three years to become true Dublin and Irish whiskey. Fantastic news for Dublin and whiskey lover’s alike !

The Teeling Whiskey Company is run by Jack together with his brother Stephen. Thanks to its new distillery, the Teeling Whiskey Company has complete control of all aspects of its whiskey production, from grain to bottle, so that it can truly lead the category in terms of innovation and build on the company’s ever growing reputation of producing some of the world’s best whiskies. Most recently, Teeling Single Malt was named ‘World’s Best’ at the 2015 World Whiskies Awards and Teeing Small Batch was awarded ‘Best Blended Irish Whiskey’ at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Earlier this year, the Teeling Whiskey Company announced a €10 million investment in a new distillery and visitor centre in the Newmarket area of The Liberties, making it the first new distillery in Dublin in 125 years. Over 100 jobs were created during the construction phase of the distillery and 30 permanent jobs are planned following completion. The distillery is due to open its doors to visitors in May of this year. Founded by Jack Teeling in 2012, the Teeling Whiskey Company was set up to revive his family-old trademark of Irish whiskey and bring distilling back to Dublin, where Walter Teeling had a distillery on Marrowbone Lane in the 18th century.
