This Dublin City Centre Festival Sounds Like the Ultimate Weekend Plan

The Creative Quarter District is one of the most bustling hubs in the city, picturesque and dotted with fantastic restaurants. DublinTown and local businesses in this district have come together to showcase the best of the Quarter with a festival this weekend – and the best part is, entry is free!

Running over two days, Saturday August 26th from 1pm-8pm and Sunday August 27th from 12pm-5pm, the Creative Quarter Festival has a jam packed line up of events with on-street cooking demonstrations, fashion shows, comedy, an outdoor movie screening and exhibition stands from local businesses.

First Music Contact, organisers of the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival, will feature live music from 12 of Ireland’s top emerging acts performing over the two days. The Creative Quarter will also be filled with the sound of laughter with a special lunchtime comedy show at the International Bar – “Ireland: a Survivors Guide”.

The festival will take place over locations around the Creative Quarter area including Fade Street and parking bays dotted along Drury Street and South William St.

For foodies, a number of restaurants are celebrating the festival by offering a special deal for either €8, €10 or €12, all of which can be purchased during the festival at the DublinTown Kiosk located on Fade Street for the event.

Fade Street Social will be serving up some delicious specials to mark the event, think Pumpkin Flatbread with skinny fries and cheese for €8, a unique Bacon & Cabbage Burger with skinny fries and cheese for €10 and a Crab HotDog with skinny fries and cheese for €10.

The International Bar will be offering stew and a pint for €12, Saba has a Maya Bay Cocktail for €10 and 10% off your food bill from 12pm-5pm if you mention the CQ Festival when paying. The Market Bar will serve any small dish and a glass of house wine for €10 and Platform 61 is offering two glasses of wine or one cocktail for €8.

Duck has a €10 meal deal running for the festival and Fallon & Byrne will offer Crostini and Dips plus a glass of House Wine in the Fallon & Byrne Wine Cellar for €12 – just some of the delicious deals you can avail of with more deals to be announced.

Excitingly, there will also be an outdoor movie screening on Fade Street on Saturday at 6pm, you can pre-register to attend here.

Blazing Salads Restaurant Dublin

Showcasing their business by taking over a loading bay on Saturday and Sunday include Creative Quarter favourites Blazing Salads, who will host an on-street Living Room with food sampling outside their shop on Drury Street and Asia Market will hold a food sampling from a street stall, among others.

There will also be a packed schedule of cooking demonstrations from places like Blazing Salads, Duck and Asia Market so you can pick up some tips and tricks to up your cooking game at home. All in all, the Creative Quarter Festival sounds like the perfect way to spend this weekend, so check out the full line up to plan your visit – you’ll probably want to go both days to take it all in!
