The Full Irish – An Afternoon of Talks on The Irish Breakfast

Have you ever wondered what goes into black pudding? Or where we picked up our heritage skill of smoking fish? Or what Dubliners ate for breakfast a century ago? The St Patrick’s Festival I Love My City programme welcomes you to enjoy an afternoon of talks and tastings to explore the past, present and future at The Irish Breakfast event from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday 19 March.

Taking place inside the beautiful Georgian rooms of No. 63 Merrion Square, home to The Royal Society of Antiquaries, tickets to The Irish Breakfast afternoon talks are €15, which includes access to all three talks and free tastings, with vegetarians more than welcome.

Birgitta Hedin-Curtin (The Burren Smokehouse) and Jack Crotty (The Rocketman/East) will talk about Fish for Breakfast; craft butcher Ed Hick will host a talk called ‘The Proof Is In The Black Pudding’; and Chef Clare Anne O’Keefe (The Science Gallery/Masterchef), social historians Sam McGrath and Ciaran Murray (Come Here To Me) will speak about the past, present and future of The Irish Breakfast.

There will also be a mini market in the upstairs drawing rooms of the house to help you put together your Sunday breakfast, featuring Alchemy Juice, Broughgammon Farm, Arun Bakery, McNally Family Farm and Burren Smokehouse. Complimentary tea and coffee will be brewed by Nick’s Coffee Company.

Tickets for The Irish Breakfast are available at www.stpatricksfestival.ie. For information of all other I Love My City events visit www.stpatricksfestival.ie/events/love-my-city.
