Step out of the Irish summer rain and meet two gentlemen from Spain who are at the very top of their game, and each a master of their profession –, gods of Sherry and Jamón Ibérico respectively, who will be hosting a very special Sherry & Jamon Ibérico tasting at 7.30pm on 21st September in the award-winning Stanley’s Restaurant & Wine Bar.
Wines from Spain are delighted to host this tasting of two of the most delicious substances produced on the Iberian peninsula – fine Sherry wine and luscious Jamón Ibérico led by two renowned experts along with Stanley’s very own expert on wine, Morgan VanderKamer.
Director General of the Consejo Regulador de las Denominación de Origen de los Vinos de Jerez, the official institution of the Sherry wine industry which oversees three different Denominations of Origin, César Saldaña was born in Jerez, the home of Sherry, and has been closely related to the world of the bodegas since his very early days. Due to his role, César Saldaña spends a significant part of his time lecturing on Sherry, both in Jerez and internationally.
Mario Hiraldo has knife skills that would amaze any Michelin-star chef, having developed them over many years training and demonstrating the methods of carving Jamón Ibérico, specifically that which comes from his own home town (and which he, unsurprisingly, rates as the best in the world) of Huelva. An expert on all aspects of ham production, from pig rearing to the best way to use each tiny sliver of this succulent, acorn-fed delicacy, Mario is a true enthusiast.
Both these men bring decades of experience, generations of knowledge and genuine passion for these products to this tasting at Stanley’s Restaurant & Wine Bar, and this is an opportunity to learn about a wine which is set to skyrocket in popularity and a ham which has never been more fashionable from two men who have forgotten more about their specialist subjects than most people will ever know.
Come and see (and taste!) why they are so passionate and so committed to spreading the word about these extraordinary products on Monday 21st September next at 7.30pm in Stanley’s Restaurant and Wine Bar.
In Stanley’s Restaurant and Wine Bar on St. Andrews Street, chef/proprietor Stephen McArdle has created a unique space across three floors – a cosy ground floor wine bar, an elegant first floor dining room, and a sweet Card Room on the top floor for private events.
Certified with the Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine Director and General Manager Morgan Vanderkamer’s passion for wine is evident in conversation, in her inspiring and unconventional wine list, and her regular interesting wine dinners and events. Stanley’s Restaurant and Wine Bar is a very natural host for this special Sherry & Jamon Ibérico event.
