The National Off-Licence Association Selects Winners at the Irish Wine Show

Over 600 wines were submitted to the Irish Wine Show Star Award adjudication panel of The National Off-Licence Association (NOffLA), who awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Star Awards to a total of 45 wines at the ceremony which took place last Monday, 10th October. Familia Castaño, Hécula Monastrell 2014 won Wine of the Year Award.

NOffLa wine experts and independent wine writers conformed the panel that had the responsibility of choosing the best entries in the competitions’ sixteenth year. Each of the winning wines will be available to consumers all over Ireland.

Gary O’Donovan, Chairman of NOffLA congratulated the winners, and said; “Each year this event allows us to celebrate the best wines available at a range of price points which can be sold by our highly trained members around the country. Our members are committed to offering the Irish consumer excellence in terms of personal service, product knowledge, superior quality and true value for money.”

He praised their wholesaler partners who “place a considerable amount of time and effort in deciding which wines to enter into The Irish Wine Show, something that is evident every year with increasing levels of excellence.”

The participant wines received points awarded on the basis of appearance, aroma, taste and value for money. Each winner will be sold in NOffLA member outlets, of which there are more than 315 nationwide. The will be recognisable by distinctive Award symbols on each bottle.
