TheTaste Shortlisted as Finalists in the Accenture Digital Media Awards 2016

TheTaste has been shortlisted as a finalist in the  Accenture Digital Media Awards 2016 for the Best Start-Up using Digital.

The Digital Media Awards, this year in association with Accenture Digital, began in 2012 with a mission to recognise and celebrate excellence in all aspects of digital media, aiming to give established multi-national corporations and up-and-comers alike an equal chance to showcase their achievements and network.

Family-run business TheTaste, set up by husband and wife team Keith and Jules Mahon in October 2014, strives to be a culinary kaleidoscope to champion every taste, food, wine, cocktails, whiskey and more. In it’s first year of business alone TheTaste generated over €1.8 million in revenue for the Irish hospitality market, and now has over 185,000 registered readers.

On making the shortlist Keith says,

“Our first year has been full of highlights, none of which would have been possible without the support of the fantastic businesses we work with and our small but super-talented team. Being shortlisted for the Best Start-Up means all our hard work is being recognised by our peers which we are very humbled by. Ireland is a world leader in food and we are delighted to be part of such a creative and fast moving industry and to continue to provide our readers with a monthly map of the best tastes to try.”

The Accenture Digital Media Awards prides itself on a stringent judging process ensuring the winners in each category are truly deserving, according to the site:

“Each judge is assigned two categories within their specific area of expertise and experience. We ensure that there is no conflict of interest between any judges and the submissions they will grade, and the adjudication process is carried out with the utmost confidentiality and objectivity. The judges assess the entries in their categories online through our secure adjudication system.”

The shortlist for Best Start-Up using Digital announced on January 21st also includes Galway bar An Pucan,, a website reporting on women’s sport in Ireland and usheru, a cinema app.

Other categories in the Accenture Digital Media Awards include Best Media Brand of the Year, Best App for Mobile/Tablet, Best Website, Blogger of the Year, Best Use of Social Media and Best Brand using Digital.

Entries for Digital School Project and Digital Student of the Year are still open, and the public can vote for their favourites until February 9th.

The awards take place on Friday February 19th in The Double Tree by Hilton, Dublin. Until then TheTaste waits with baited breathe and crossed fingers.
