Last Tuesday 6th of February, we attended a tasting of wines from the comprehensive portfolio of Tindal Wine Merchants, a family-owned importer bringing fine wines from both Europe and the New World into the Irish market.
The event, held at the stylish Marker Hotel, was followed by a consumer tasting on the same evening, where wine lovers discovered over 35 wine producers coming from around 40 regions.
Here are three of our favourite wines from this tasting…
Emiliana Eco Organic Viognier
Colchagua Valley, Chile
€12.99 – Available at Martin’s Off Licence
Apples, stone fruit and orange blossom merge in this voluptuous white.
Fresh and with a delicate honeysuckle character on the palate.
Great with chicken or rich seafood dishes.
Domaines Schlumberger, Riesling, Grand Cru, Saering 2014
Alsace, France
€29.95 – Available at Searsons Wine Merchants
Elegance and balance. This organic Riesling offers a crisp and harmonius combination of white flowers and a stone river-like minerality.
Dried lemon and jasmine complete the array of flavours in this Alsatian classic.
Pombal do Vesuvio
Douro, Portugal
€28.95 – Available at Searsons Wine Merchants
Spicy and lean, this dry Portuguese red by Quinta do Vesuvio offers floral aromas with dark, ripe berries and a hint of cocoa on the palate.
Vanilla and clove together with a pleasant toastiness are delivered by gentle tannins.

Since then, she has written about and worked in the local food scene, and she’s determined to discover and share the different traditions, flavours and places that have led Irish food and drink to fascinate her.
