Vintage Cocktail Club evokes a glamorous speakeasy like the ones silent movie stars and elegant aviators would have loved to visit during the roaring twenties yet it’s located at the heart of Temple Bar and it is frequented by cocktail lovers that appreciate their chic and comfortable surroundings as much as their fine drinks and eclectic food choices to accompany.
The soft and inviting lighting, the sophisticated and seductive design and the remarkable level of attention to detail of the Vintage Cocktail Club will make you feel like you’ve traveled in time to share a drink with the likes of Ernest Hemingway and the Fitzgeralds.
The Vintage Cocktail Club’s extensive drinks menu offers a walk through the best cocktail making history. The list stars with “The Simple Mixture” which honours the craft from its earliest days until the 1600’s. Expect balanced combinations of sweetness, water and liqueur. Then “Punch Gains Popularity” during the following century which serves as the theme for the next section of the menu.
After that, the “Golden Age of Cocktail” begins and names such as cobblers, wobblers, slips and juleps made it to the selected list that lead the way to the next period of the menu, “The Martini”, inspired in the late XIX century and featuring several exciting renditions of James Bond’s favourite.
“The Manhattan” occurs simultaneously but deserves it’s own section thanks to four remixes of the classic mix and of course, NYC’s cocktail king itself. The early 1900’s are celebrated with “The Cocktail Boom” and in this age, as Cole Porter sang it, anything goes: sweets, sours and bitters reminds us why the prohibition actually brought new life to the scene.
The allure of the exotic is the central theme for “The Roots of the Tikki Craze”, as they call the 30’s, a decade that saw the birth of the Mai-Tai and the Zombie among other tropical creations. “The Bloody Mary and the Red Snapper” have their own space close to this age of colourful variety.
Finally, the menu ends on a experimental note with “VCC Craft Cocktails” and “VCC Signature Serves”, two sections in which the club’s expert mixologists reinterpret history and serve it skilfully on a glass.
