World Barista Champion Announced at World of Coffee Dublin

Berg Wu from Taiwan was announced as the World Barista Champion at the World of Coffee event on June 25 at the RDS Simmonscourt.

Second place went to Yoshikazu Iwase from Japan, while Ben Put from Canada arrived third, Lem Butler from USA was fourth, Charlotte Malaval from France was fifth and Lex Wenneker from The Netherlands arrived sixth.

Cindy Ludviksen, Managing Director, World Coffee Events commented: “The 17th Annual World Barista Championship in Dublin has been a wonderful event with 61 National Champions giving their all in four days of competition. The Dublin coffee community has proved to be passionate hosts for this prestigious competition and we couldn’t be more excited to announce Berg Wu as the 2016 World Barista Champion’.

Organised by the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), World of Coffee Dublin was a huge success as over 6,500 people met with more than 1,500 exhibitors at 250 stands over the 3-day event. “The World Barista Championships coincide every second year with the World of Coffee event”, explained Paul Stack, President of SCAE.
