If you love adventure then you’re going to adore the world’s longest recreational hiking trail, which has officially opened after 25 years in the making.
Known as The Great Trail, the intricate network of paths and roads stretches 24,000 kilometres from coast to coast across Canada.
The route, which was first suggested as an idea back in 1992, links 23 provinces and territories and will attract a number of outdoor enthusiasts from around the world.
Describing the impressive route, The Great Trail writes: “Whether you are looking for a place to hike, cycle, paddle, ride, cross-country ski or snowmobile, you can find an experience that resonates with you.
As the longest recreational trail in the world, The Great Trail offers a wide range of activities through a variety of landscapes – urban, rural and wilderness, along greenways, waterways and roadways.
True to its name, The Great Trail embodies the vastness of our terrain and the diversity of our people.”
