Ireland’s Best Young Fishmongers Cross the Waters to Learn from Seafood Specialist Rick Stein

The winners of the 2017 BIM Young Fishmonger of the Year Awards crossed the waters last week to reap the rewards of their win: a two day course at culinary legend Rick Stein’s Cookery School in Padstow, Cornwall.

Under the expert eye of Sam Beech, Chef Lecturer at the Cookery School, Eimantas Zvirblis, Donnybrook Fair, Malahide and Stephen Hurley, The Fish Shop & Glenmar Shellfish, Union Hall attended in the “Fish and Shellfish” course where they discovered how to use the freshest seafood to create some of Rick Stein’s favourite dishes.

Eimantas was the winner in the Supermarket Seafood Counter category and Stephen took the top gong as an Independent Seafood Specialist.

Speaking about the importance of the Young Fishmonger of the Year competition Ian Mannix, Business Development Manager at BIM, said:
