Afternoon Tea is a unique experience at Wineport Lodge given that it’s served up in the property’s wonderful Lakeshore Lounge surrounded by the waters of Lough Ree. Perched at the end of a walkway surrounded by the lake waters, the Lakeshore Lounge is all about enjoying laid back, rustic luxury while soaking up the beautiful scenic surrounds. Think crackling stoves, cosy throws and soft cushions while admiring the lake and its resident birdlife all from the privacy of your very own lakeshore retreat.
The Afternoon Tea menu features a tasty array of freshly made, open gourmet sandwiches served on homemade sourdough and brown bread – choose from smoked salmon, cucumber & fennel; pastrami & celeriac remoulade or smoked Ardrahan cheese, tomato & pepper relish. Freshly baked scones are served with traditional clotted cream and preserves, along with deliciously tempting sweet treats of the day – sticky toffee pudding, vanilla custard or chocolate & raspberry tartlet anyone? These mouth-watering treats are washed down with your choice of tea – choose from camomile, fresh mint, green or Earl Grey – or freshly brewed coffee.
Served daily from 12noon – 4pm. Prior bookings of at least 24 hours are recommended to ensure your preferred date and time. Coeliac and gluten free options are also available. Afternoon Tea starts at €25 per person, or €30 with glass of Prosecco. To really upgrade your teatime opt for a Bollinger Champagne for €37 per person.
For a really special treat why not steal away for a night of R&R. Check in early at 2pm and enjoy Afternoon Tea in the Lakeshore Lounge. While away the afternoon with a leisurely stroll around the lakeshore garden or explore the neighbouring countryside on complimentary bikes. After working up an appetite for dinner dine in the renowned Wineport Lodge restaurant. Top off the perfect lazy weekend with a delicious breakfast in bed. Afternoon Tea with B&B is from €189 per room based on two people sharing
“If you are cold, tea will warm you;
if you are too heated, it will cool you;
If you are depressed, it will cheer you;
If you are excited, it will calm you.”
