An Evening of Sharing at Osteria Lucio with Ross Lewis and Luciano Tona

Ross Lewis and Luciano Tona have toasted their new venture Osteria Lucio by hosting an evening of sharing.

On March 13th, the chefs invited guests from the culinary world and food lovers to gather at the Italian restaurant to celebrate authentic cuisine and friendship.

As the theme for the evening was sharing and friendship, guests were encouraged to mingle together on the osteria’s benches and enjoy the 7 course sharing menu by the legendary chef.

The evening started with a number of cicchetti or small bites and the antipasto was served in large bowls to share at the table. Next was the risotto which saw guests selecting their preferred sauce and dressing the rice at the table.

Calamarata pasta followed with the scent of tomato sauce and basil pesto filling the room with the amazing aromas that represent the quintessence of Italy. Luciano’s favourite, chicken three ways, was followed by a platter of cured meats, cheeses, jams and focaccia, unusually served before dessert rather than at the beginning of the meal. The evening ended with profiteroles three ways.

In his welcoming speech Ross talked passionately about his friendship with Luciano and how the language of food overcame all linguistic challenges over the years. “I hope in 20 years time you will be telling somebody a similar story. I hope you meet somebody tonight that you connect to through food.”

Luciano explained how his desire to put genuine Italian food on the map is the engine that drives his philosophy. “Italians are the only people in the world who talk about food even when they are eating it. This menu was designed to get you talking, this is what conviviality means.
