An evening of Wine Tasting with Cases Wine

Cases Wine Warehouse, located in Tuam County Galway, is an independent importer providing great wines at great prices directly to consumers and trade both from their warehouse and from their user friendly website www.cases.ie.

We Love Wine, We Love Life”. Open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 7pm Peter Boland and his team are there to assist you in your wine selection. They have been awarded ‘Best Wine Warehouse in Ireland’ by Tomás Clancy in the Sunday Business Post for the last five years which speaks to the quality wine, service and knowledge they provide.

They are holding a consumer Winter Wine Fair on November 13th 2015 in their warehouse with many of their winemakers in attendance to guide you. Tickets are €25 and all proceeds go to charity, a company policy they have is to give back and they choose a different charity each year.

They recently held a trade and press tasting which I popped along to and here are one or two for you to try.

Chateau Eugenie Cahors AC ‘Cuvee Pierre le Grand’ 2011

Chateau EugenieOn the nose this wine is deep brooding and earthy just like a cahors should be.With aromas of black & red fruits along with a mushroom undertone.

The palate is lovely & soft with great structure. The bramble notes blend with the oak and earthy notes to give a big but elegant wine.

This wine will pair well with red meat, strong cheese and game.

Mendraka Bizkaiko Txakolina DO 2014

MendrakaThis wine has quite fresh nose with aromas of ripe lemon, oak, lime leaf  and a touch of spice.

The palate is medium bodied and smooth with floral notes and a touch of mint. There was a cool refreshing citrus twist which has an affect on the palate like a lemon trapped in a glacier. A really interesting wine.

This wine will easily pair with a fish, salads & simply roasted chicken.

Plaimont ‘Les Vignes Retrouvees’ Saint Mont AC 2014

Les Vignes Retrouvées Rouge -lrThe aromas from this wine are lovely with touches of white peach, over ripe lemon with a smokey twist.

The palate is clean and vibrant with a stunning  citrus freshness  running through the palate along with the aromas from the palate.

A zippy wine that will work as an aperitif or with fish.
