Award Winning Chefs Collaborate to Create a Fabulous Foraging Feast

Cahernane House Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry is hosting a special wild ingredient driven dinner on Thursday, 2nd April. Executive Head Chef, Eric Kavanagh of Cahernane will welcome Executive Head Chef, Bryan McCarthy from Greenes Restaurant, Co. Cork to the 2 AA Rosette Herbert Restaurant.

Taking inspiration from the end of game season, Eric and Bryan have devised a six-course menu which is a celebration of wild food with stand-out dishes of venison and local, foraged ingredients. The ‘Four Hands Dinner’ at Cahernane House is priced at €59 per person. An overnight package is also available for €258 for dinner and accommodation for two people sharing.

Executive Head Chef, Eric Kavanagh heads up the complete food operation at the PREM Group owned Cahernane House Hotel and his passion for food is evident in every bite he produces. He places a strong emphasis on food provenance, following the journey of the produce from farm to fork. Chef Eric spends his time meeting with local suppliers to ensure the hotel is using the very best of locally sourced cuisine.

Eric Kavanagh said, “I have known Bryan for many years, so the Four Hands Dinner is a wonderful opportunity for me to collaborate with both a friend and a talented chef. Bryan has always been innovative in his work and I know our combined styles will make for a very special evening for our guests”.

Executive Head Chef Bryan McCarthy said, “Eric is one of Ireland’s best game chefs, so I am delighted to be working alongside someone so renowned for their game cookery. The menu will focus on wild, foraged ingredients, offering something unique for our diners and allowing us to showcase our combined passion for this type of food.

The Herbert Restaurant in Cahernane holds a coveted 2 AA Rosettes testament to Eric and his team’s skill, innovation and flair with the restaurant named after Henry Herbert, who built the Manor house in 1877.

The Herbert Restaurant epitomises the style and grandeur of the original house and commands beautiful views over the surrounding landscape. The restaurant is complete with luxury furnishings, original herringbone parquet flooring and fittings such as the beautiful decadent silk curtains which frame the stunning views over the Killarney National Park and lakes.
