Beaujolais Trade Tasting Comes to the Morrison Hotel this May

Inter Beaujolais is about to launch its first marketing campaign in Ireland with a trade tasting in the Morrison Hotel on Tuesday, May 17th.

The tasting takes place from 11am to 6pm and will feature wines from each of the ten Beaujolais crus as well as Beaujolais AOC and Beaujolais-Villages AOC.

Presented by Martin Moran MW, the tasting will look at:

The 2015 vintage; an exceptional vintage
The 10 Crus; highlights of the variations within each Cru
Beaujolais & Beaujolais-Villages; reflection of a lighter style of Beaujolais at accessible price points
Biodynamic, Natural, and Organic wines; growing in popularity among winemakers
White & Rosé; making up only 2% of production in the region
Old Vintages; proof that Gamay has ageing potential

The tasting will include two masterclasses presented by Martin Moran MW. The first tasting is open to sommeliers and those working in the restaurant trade, while the second tasting will be open to members of the importing and retail trade.

The classes will take an in-depth look at the region and will be exploring soil variations in Beaujolais and Martin will talk about the Sicarex initiative, a five year project that involved drilling holes and trenches in the soils to further comprehend the climates of Beaujolais.

Jean Bourjade, Managing Director of Inter Beaujolais, will also be on hand to talk to the trade about recent developments in the region and what the future holds for Beaujolais on the Irish market.
