This Stunning Kilkenny Spot is Serving Up a Tempting Seafood Afternoon Tea

Butler House has a rich history dating back to 1786, this stunning Georgian manor house is located in the medieval city of Kilkenny and in the Dower House of Kilkenny Castle. The heritage manor was originally built for Lady Eleanor Butler. Lady Eleanor was the mother to John the Earl of Ormonde. The Butler family, Dukes and Earls of Ormonde went on to reside at Kilkenny Castle for 500 years.

Sitting on over an arce of beautifully manicured gardens Butler House it is an ideal place to meet friends and soak in the atmosphere, with a tempting dining offering to match, including an innovative take on traditional afternoon tea that we cannot wait to try!

Guests of Butler House can relax and enjoy the picturesque views in the sunny tearoom with large bay windows, while enjoying daily Afternoon Tea. The tearoom also features some amazing artwork from the Basil Gouding Collection and two exquisite painting by reputable Irish painter Louis le Brocquay.

Butler House offers breakfast, morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch, so no appetite will be left unfulfilled. Executive chef Gerard Dunne is in the kitchen cooking up tempting delights with an ethos of using only the finest quality ingredients in his dishes and focusing on using local, organic and seasonal ingredients.

Where possible he will source these ingredients within a 60km radius of Butler House. Butler House’s seasonal vegetables are sourced from Riversfield Farm and chef Gerard bases his menu planning around this.

On April 29th, Butler House will be serving a delicious “Afternoon Sea” – a contemporary twist on Afternoon Tea, including the finest fresh seafood paired with mini Bloody Mary Prawn Cocktails.

Diners will enjoy sweet flaky crab meat on toasted brioche, sumptuous lobster with caviar, and oysters with Irish smoked salmon on freshly baked Guinness bread.

Forget your classic tea or coffee to match with your seafood delights, instead you’ll be served a unique pairing of creamy Lobster Bisque. Booking is essential so make sure you don’t miss out on these seafood delights – the perfect start to summer and a bargain at €29pp.
