One of Ireland’s Top Chefs Opens New Casual Eatery Today

One of the most recognisable Irish chefs and champion of Irish food JP McMahon will today open the doors of his new restaurant, Tartare. JP is the chef proprietor of Michelin starred Aniar and Cava Bodega in Galway, so this will be will be his third venture which will surely be as popular as its predecessors.

In contrast to the tasting menus of Aniar, Tartare , which will be located on Galway’s Lower Dominick Street, will offer a more casual feel as a café and wine bar, with the same ethos of utilising the finest Irish local ingredients and of course, JP’s flair for exciting flavour combinations.

During the day, the short but considered menu will feature well-priced salads like Mackerel, Fennel and Sheeps Yoghurt (€9.50), small bites such as Cheese Scones with Fermented Butter (€3) and tempting sandwiches like Ham Hock and Smoked Gubbeen Cheese (€6.50).

The evening menu sounds worth planning a dedicated trip to the West for, with Irish Charcuterie and Cheese Boards (€13.50) and inventive Small Plates like Potted Crab and Sea Herbs, Native Oyster, Pickled Onion and Tarragon Gel and of course, their signature Beef Tartare (€9.50).

Expect an expertly sourced and curated wine list to accompany the delights on the menu, so a trip to this new gem needs to be on the top of your restaurant bucket list for 2017.

Tartare opens this morning, September 25th at 10am. more information visit their Facebook page here.
