Calling all Whiskey Lovers – You Can Now Own the World’s Most Coveted Whiskies

Irish Whiskey has certainly become a phenomenon in recent years, with record breaking prices of the latest Teeling whiskey and soaring prices of the Dingle releases. We’re beginning to become spoiled for choice in bars across Dublin, allowing our love of whiskey to grow.

It’s no surprise then that the Celtic Whiskey Shop have decided to launch an online auction site so we can now hunt down the most coveted bottles of whiskey from the comfort of our own living rooms!

Launching on November 12th, the Celtic Whiskey Auction will bring plenty of rare, collectable and unusual bottlings, appealing to both whiskey connoisseurs and amateur whisky drinkers in Ireland and across the globe. That being said, the auction site will also feature sought-after world whiskies, spirits, wines and accessories too. If you’re in search of the perfect Christmas gift for a whiskey lover, your prayers have been answered.

It will come as no surprise to hear that Irish whiskey is the world’s fastest-growing spirit’s category and the arrival of more whiskey means more whiskey enthusiasts. Across the sea, the Scottish whiskey auction market has rapidly grown by 732 percent since 2013.

Kickstarting the first auction, a full set of Midleton Very Rare Whiskeys — years 1984 to 2017 — with an expected hammer price of over €40,000 will be auctioned, as well as a hugely sought-after Macallan 50 Year Old that often sells for more than €60,000. These are just two of a few highly collectable whiskies that will be up for grabs on the site, although they might not last long.

The Celtic Whiskey Auction will also give people the opportunity to sell any old bottles of whiskey that have been hiding in cupboards, whether it be for years, decades or even a century. So check your cupboards for old Christmas presents or the bottle you have been saving (for no reason) and you might get lucky.

Irish sellers will be able to avoid excessive shipping costs by submitting bottles to both the Celtic Whiskey Shop in Dublin and their sister business, the Celtic Whiskey Bar & Larder in Killarney by Friday 2nd November. The auction, held in conjunction with Smith Kelly Scott Auctioneers smithkellyscott.ie, will begin on November 12th for two weeks and will close shortly after Ireland’s premier whiskey tasting event Whiskey Live Dublin on Monday 26th November at 8pm.
