Sweet! Cork’s First Dessert Festival Kicks Off Today

Cork is quickly developing a reputation as a go-to foodie destination, dotted with fantastic restaurants and passionate producers across the county. Seemingly the rebel county has a distinct sweet tooth, as today marks the beginning of their first ever Cork Dessert Festival.

Running from June 26th to July 2nd, the Cork Dessert Festival will see restaurants, bars and producers coming together to showcase the best of their sweet treats, with seriously tempting specials in venues all over the city and wider county.

Highlights of the festival include Electric Bar and Restaurant Mad Hatter’s Afternoon G+T, taking place on July 1st from 2-4pm, so you can get your sweet fix while sipping on a perfectly made gin and tonic. Electric will also hold a Cake Club Sunday on the 2nd July from 3-5pm.

Cronin’s in the city centre will be serving homemade ice cream made with Cronin’s brown soda bread, paired with Russian Imperial Stout from the White Gypsy. Sober Lane will offer a tempting guest dessert – the Kinder Sundae – as well as two guest cocktails, Nutty Russian with Absolut Vanilla, Frangelico, Kahlua and milk and After Eight-  Tia Maria, Creme de Menthe, Baileys and milk.
