Make Mine a Princess Peach – This New Arcade Bar Looks Like a Knockout Night Out

If you didn’t live for Mario Kart competitions with your friends and losing days on end glued to your Super Nintendo did you even have a childhood? Nothing brings you back to the good old days like indulging your Donkey Kong cravings, and Barcadia will let you combine this with cocktails, craft beers and comfort food.

The newest addition to the Mardyke complex in Cork, Barcadia is the stuff of retro dreams with every arcade game you could ever want to get sucked into for the night. From Star Wars pinball to video game consoles and even boardgames like Monopoly, we can’t imagine ever being bored here.

On the drinks front, expect creative gaming inspired cocktails like the PacMan, a porn-star martini style concoction of passionfruit liquer and Prosecco, Barcadia’s take on the espresso martini Donkey Kong and an Old Fashioned style Bowser Tea with Jameson Black Barrel.

As you would expect, there is also a wide range of craft beer on offer from Brewdog to Brooklyn Brewery, as well as plenty of casual ‘bytes’ to go with it. Mozzarella sticks, chicken strips, themed burgers and pizzas are all on the menu, as well as some super sweet treats.

A brainchild of Cork’s two beloved entertainers, Colm Lougheed and Patrick Ahern, also known as members of 80’s Vs 90’s DJ group, Barcadia joins the ranks of three other venues within the Mardyke Complex, John Relihan’s Holy Smoke BBQ restaurant, Woolshed Baa & Grill and Mardyke Bowl, which Patrick and Colm worked closely with for the last six years.

“We’ve wanted to do this for quite sometime and the Mardyke was the perfect location for the Barcadia concept. The Mardyke is a fabulous activity driven venue and Barcadia compliments that concept further. But being honest, we’ve always wanted to own an arcade too!” the duo said.

This retro arcade bar sounds well worth a trip, if we can keep our competitive streaks in check! Launching officially on March 8th, you owe your inner child a trip to this new Cork spot.
