New Restaurant Crean’s Place Opened in Kilcullen this Week

Crean’s Place opened its doors in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare last Monday 9th of October. The new restaurant, located on 10 Main St., focuses on local ingredients to offer an authentic and fresh taste of Irish flavours with international influences.

Head Chef David Byrne will lead the kitchen at Crean’s Palce. David has over a decade of experience in Irish restaurants and will be accompanied by Sous Chef Christopher Martin.

They aim to keep the production of everything in-house as much as possible, and source from local suppliers. We spoke with Rose Martin from Crean’s Place, who pointed out that the venue will work with a “zero waste” philosophy, avoiding the use of plastic and favouring handmade and artisan ingredients and dishes.

The venue is opened from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and it features all-day breakfast, as well as lunch dishes and a lovely selection of cakes and treats ideal to share with coffee or tea.

Some of their dishes include Eggs Benedict (€7.5) and the always popular Full Irish Breakfast (€9.5). For lunch, options feature an open slow roasted pepper beef sandwich (€11.50) and a traditional Mauritian Rougaille (€11). There’s also salads and club sandwiches.

As reported by the Leinster Leader, the venue is named after Antarctic explorer Tom Crean, a historical figure for whom owner David Hogan has great admiration.
