The Lucky Seven for Dating in Dublin

Dating can be tricky business, no matter where you’re from. There’s an undertone of pressure, from how to ask, what to wear and especially what to do. Now that most have conceded that “dinner and a movie” should be a thing of the past, there’s the added pressure of selecting the perfect place to impress your date.

Thankfully, Dublin is full of exciting spots to head to. For a first date, the key is to find somewhere a little bit different, a little bit unique and a little bit intimate. Whether you’re interested in dinner or just drinks, we’ve picked some of the best spots to get to know your date.

Here are our lucky seven spots for dating in Dublin:

Ely Wine Bar

Situated on Ely Place in a stylish Georgian building, there’s a casual sophistication about Ely Wine Bar. Ely is a reliable choice where you can relax over a glass (or a bottle of wine) in a quiet, more understated setting. They serve over 400 wines by the bottle and more than 60 by the glass as well as a menu full of locally sourced Irish products.

Peruke & Periwig

Tucked away on Dawson Street, Peruke & Periwig isn’t quite as brash as the rest of the street’s popular haunts. It’s a bar on the ground floor, serving craft beers, cocktails and bar bites. As you move up, the first and second floors host two old fashioned lounges serving more drinks and a full menu. This place is certainly intimate, with a quiet and cool atmosphere.

Coppinger Row

Coppinger Row is one of Dublin’s most loved little restaurants. It’s renowned for its cocktail list, with signature drinks that rival any of the most popular cocktail bars in Dublin. It’s a small restaurant, where you can sit in and relax over a meal of simple yet well executed food or have a few drinks out front, but either way you and your date are sure to feel at ease here.

They serve fantastic cocktails, a wide variety of beers and of course, as well as their fair share of wines. Similarly to The Exchequer in Dublin 2, the Wine Bar in Ranelagh is provides simple food and great drinks at a fair price and without any pretence.

Whether or not you’ve been before, no one can deny the skill of the bartenders here. A trip to VCC is one you and your date won’t be soon to forget.
