Social Gallery – DublinTown Has Launched an Exciting New Food And Drink Festival

What beats a festival dedicated to the best food and drink Dublin has to offer? Not a lot in my opinion! On Monday, 1st October, DublinTown launched the first ever DublinTown Food & Drink Festival, a delicious festival dedicated solely to the city’s excellent food and drink.

The night celebrated all things food and drink, from skinny lattes to espresso martinis, and from pizza to porchetta! Dublin’s luckiest foodies were treated to a unique tasting menu created by six of the city’s top chefs, with live demonstrations on the night.

To kick off the night, guests were treated to a Beefeater Gin cocktail created by Alex Todica of Sams Bar on Dawson Street. The unique ‘Ecuador’ cocktail made the perfect pre dinner refreshment and included Beefeater Gin, spicy passion fruit and lemon, topped with Thomas Henry tonic.

Hosts for the night, Andrew Rudd of Medley and Richie Wilson of FIRE Restaurant and Lounge, gave guests a unique view into the kitchen to witness all the menu prep and plating, which was an exciting opportunity for foodies to witness the action behind the closed doors.

The first course of Connemara oysters was created by Ana Filipa Neto, head chef at SOLE Seafood & Grill, and this was followed by 3FE cured duck breast carpaccio served with a Jerusalem artichoke and gin sauce by Jack O’Keeffe, head chef of Cooks Academy. Eva Pau, owner of the Asia Market, then followed with crispy prawn and silken egg dashi broth, before Stephen Gibson of Pichet served up beef short rib.

To round the evening off, Austin Byrne, head chef at Bewley’s, served a white chocolate cheesecake with blueberry glaze dessert, along with a digestif, ‘Four Queens’ created by Sams Bar, which included 12 Year Old Redbreast, wildflower and heather honey, mint, chervil, fennel flower and lemon balm.

Guests at the dinner included Richard Guiney and representing the event’s partners were CEO of Pallas Foods, Peter Jackson, Keith Mahon of TheTaste.ie, and Gary Bailey of FM104.

The DublinTown Food and Drink Festival is a seven-day culinary celebration, reflecting the depth of experiences, cuisines, and occasions the capital has to offer, running from Monday 15th until Sunday, 21st October, 2018.

DublinTown created a brand-new website dedicated to the DublinTown Food and Drink Festival. Eat, drink and be entertained in your capital city. Find out more and book your experiences at FoodAndDrinkFest.ie.
