Kilkenny Shortlisted for Foodie Destinations of Ireland 2017 Final

With its great food and drink speaking for itself, Kilkenny has been shortlisted as a Top 10 finalist for “Foodie Destination of Ireland 2017“.

Public voting will account for 50% of the decision, along with an inspection visit by a judging panel.

Speaking about being shortlisted, Chairman of Kilkenny Tourism, Naoise Nunn said: “We’re more proud than ever of what Kilkenny has to offer as a Foodie Destination.”

She added: “A medieval city, steeped in history, beautiful countryside, easily accessible by road or rail and with some of the best food in the country too! If you’ve ever been to Kilkenny, we’re sure that’s how you’ll want to cast your vote!”

Foodie Destinations

Kilkenny’s thriving food scene includes a buoyant artisan food community, six cookery school, award-winning restaurants (including two Michelin starred restaurants), Food Festivals, a weekly farmers market and a wide array of bars and cafes.

The medieval city also launched #tastekilkenny in April 2017, which consisted of a collective of Kilkenny-based food producers and outlets.
