Winter has officially come to Westeros and with the nail-biting conclusion fast approaching, Game of Thrones fans may lose their appetites worrying about the fate of their favourite characters.

So to prevent worrisome hunger in anticipation of the release of the seventh season on July 16th, take a look at some of the best Game of Thrones food experiences on offer throughout the world.

Unsurprisingly, Northern Ireland is the place to go for all your Game of Thrones needs. Currently, Discover Northern Ireland offers three food and drink experiences for fans to devour.

For those planning to venture a little further afield, there are also experiences in Croatia and the US. Keep reading for more information.

BALLYGALLY CASTLE HOTEL

Game Of Thrones

At Ballygally Castle Hotel in Co. Antrim, you can experience a Game of Thrones themed Afternoon Tea.

The tasty treats on offer are all inspired by the various lands, houses and characters in Westeros, including King’s Landing, Winterfell and Jon Snow.

Some clever product names include Baratheon bread, Jon Snow cakes and Dothraki trifle with mini Dragon’s eggs.

Priced at £22 per person, Afternoon Tea is available from 2-5pm Monday to Saturday and 3-5pm on Sundays.

For more information or to book a spot, visit Ballygally Castle Hotel’s website here.

THE KING’S BANQUET AT WINTERFELL

Fancy strutting your stuff in the hallowed halls of Winterfell? Visit The Cuan in Co. Down this August and immerse yourself in the energetic atmosphere of King Robert’s banquet at Winterfell.

Don a warm cloak and feast on a meaty menu straight from George R.R. Martin’s novels. You can also stay in the village guesthouse, which played host to many of the show’s Stark cast members in the first season of Game of Thrones.

The price of the banquet and a stay in the B&B is £62.50. The banquet is available for private bookings and for parties of twenty or more people at a cost of £25 per person.

For more information and to preview the menu, visit The Cuan’s website here.

SPLIT WALKING TOUR, CROATIA

Game Of Thrones

The Game of Thrones tour from Urban Adventures in Split, Croatia, is quite popular among visitors to the country.

This tour of Split, one of the major filming locations for the show, takes fans on a walking tour through Westeros and allows travellers to walk in the footsteps of their favourite characters.

During the tour, you will get the chance to eat a Game of Thrones inspired meal of eggs, bacon, homemade sausage and warm bread with sea salt, a Westerosi favourite. There’s also a pint of beer included.

The tour lasts approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. For more information or to book a spot, visit the Urban Adventures website here.

GAME OF THRONES POP-UP BAR, WASHINGTON DC, USA

Game Of Thrones

Planning a trip to America this summer? If so, get yourself down to the Game of Thrones themed pop-up bar in the Shaw neighbourhood of Washington DC.

The bar recreates the sites and scenes from HBO’s fantastical series, with some themed drinks on offer. As well as the show’s official brew – ‘Bend The Knee’ beer – there’ll be some stronger drinks on offer for diehard fans, including ‘The Lannisters Send Their Regards” and “What is Dead May Never Die”.

As you enjoy your beverage, the Game of Thrones soundtrack will be playing on loop as you explore the Thrones-related decor, including replicas of the Hall of Faces and the Red Keep.

The pop-up is open this summer from June 21st to August 27th. Opening hours Monday through Thursday are from 5pm to 12.30am, Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 1.30am and Sundays from 1pm to 7pm. For more information, visit the pub’s website here.

GAME OF THRONES MEDIEVAL BANQUET AT CASTLE WARD ESTATE, CO. DOWN

Castle Ward Estate, which was used during the filming of the fantasy series, is located just 40 minutes from Belfast and 2 hours from Dublin.

This immersive experience puts you right in the middle of King Robert’s feast at Winterfell.

On arrival, you’ll be greeted by the Maester at the castle’s north gate and escorted to the “Armoury & Forge” where you’ll don a costume of your choice.

The “Ladies of Winterfell” will then escort you to your seat and you’ll be treated to a true northern meal, while traditional music and costumed guests add to your experience.

The menu includes roasted boar, salad of Castle Black, medieval buttered roast vegetables and 17th century baked apple and blackberry pie.

This authentic experience is only suitable for groups. For more information and to book the banquet, click here.

THE OFFICIAL GAME OF THRONES COOKBOOK

If you don’t have time to visit a Game of Thrones themed experience, you can always recreate the culinary dishes of Westeros in your own home.

With a foreword from George R.R. Martin himself, the official Game of Thrones cookbook, A Feast Of Ice And Fire, includes everything from the rich meats of the north to the exotic dishes of Dorne.

Aspiring chefs can even cook the treats enjoyed by their favourite characters, including Sansa Stark’s famous lemon cakes. Sounds delicious!

GAME OF THRONES WINE

Like the cookbook above, the official Game of Thrones wine is the perfect addition to your Game of Thrones night in. Winemaker Bob Cabral, a Game of Thrones fan in his own right, was inspired to create wines that matched the strength of the show’s characters and their homelands.

At the moment, there are three wines on offer and they can be purchased here. So take a sip of wine and watch as the seven kingdoms attempt to survive winter.
